A common thing here in the Yucatán area is to refresh yourself by bathing in a cenote which is a hole filled with fresh cold water. Of course all natural and a pleasant difference to Outside pools in Germany. I have already went bathing in two and it’s an surreal experience. My very first cenote was on our way back from Celestun. It was random and unplanned. We just stopped off at a cenote which appealed to us. After paying the entrance fee we quickly had a bite to eat.

The food was amazing and so tasty. We had empanadas, quesadillas and tacos! The best thing though about the food was the scenery. From our table you could see the jungle and the cenote plunging down.

After having to put on our mandatory life jackets ( yes they seem to follow me) we dove right into the water which was chilly at first. The amazing thing was swimming on your back and seeing the jungle all around the water and the sky to finish of the view!

The last cenote i went to was on the Ruta de cenotes. The special thing about this one was that you could zip line into it without being fastened to a harness. Hello adrenaline! It took quite some convincing to just step of the side of a giant cliff and let yourself fall into a hole of water but the risk was worth it and just let go of the zip line to go plunging into the water.
